I stood in the dark
for twenty minutes
with ladies who love you
Our breath made clouds
on the frosty air
We avoided the subject
I said I loved Germany
especially the Punktlichkeit
so of course the train
was ten minutes late
I felt light-headed
what with cold and music
and lack of food I
felt my heart had been
scooped out leaving
a cold dark place
where I could still
hear you
